Lakeview Physiotherapy & Acupuncture Gives Back to Calgary through the Weekend to End Women's Cancers

The Weekend to End Women's Cancers (Formally the Weekend to End Breast Cancer) is a National Event that has taken place in Calgary for the past 5 years. Fund-raising is directed towards breast and gynecologcial cancer research through the Alberta Cancer Foundation. The Foundation is a leader in the fight against cancer and provides funding for cancer research, treatment and support, and patient financial assistance program.  Funds raised will support life-saving research and care right here in Calgary at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.

Gayle Hulme and Nancy Baxter have been involved in organizing and providing physiotherapy and acupuncture services at the Weekend to End Breast Cancer in Calgary for these past 5 years. We donate our time, expertise, and supplies to many of the over 1,400 participants each year. Our Physiotherapy tent is located in the main camp area, where the walkers congregate after the first day of enduring 30 kilometers. Walkers are stiff, sore, and sometimes unsure about their ability to walk the remaining 30 kilometers on the second day. We help by relieving the pains of the day's walk, and support determined walkers.

During this incredible weekend of hope and celebration, thousands of determined women and men unite in Calgary to walk 60 kilometers raising money and awareness for women's cancer research.
